Calgary for the weekend

I'm heading to Calgary this weekend to visit Lindsey and Ali. I'm excited to get away (even if it's only 3 hours away) and not think about work, school, or regular house work. Friday we'll probably stay in, drink some wine, and play cards. Saturday we are going to the Calgary Tower for dinner...mainly to celebrate one year for Brock and I. My cousin, Stacey, and her hubby, Jason, are coming for dinner too. I'll also be down there next weekend, so if you're in Cow Town at that time, give me a shout.

Disney Dining Plan

I just took a quick break from work to look further into this dining plan that I have decided to purchase for my trip to Disney World in May. For about $40 a day you get:
• One table-service meal (including appetizer, entree, dessert, or full buffet, non-alcoholic beverage, and gratuity/service charge; dessert not available at breakfast)
• One counter service meal (including entree/combo meal, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage; dessert not available at breakfast)
• One snack -- most snack items under $4 are eligible for the dining plan snack credit.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, doesn't it? I'm going to be a blimp after this trip. It's a good thing they don't serve dessert at breakfast ;)

Birthday review

Friday night was a lot of fun. There were so many people at the pub, many people who I haven't seen in a long time. Brock also had a good time, especially since he didn't get sick. My only regret from the night was that I didn't take enough pictures. So if you happened to take any pictures at all on Friday, can you please send them to me at a_dawnsnyder@hotmail.com?

Making Science Cool

A few weeks ago my boss and some of her colleagues interviewed a handful of children on what they thought about science fairs. It turned out that most of the children they interviewed thought science fairs were dorky, un-cool, only for geeks, etc...

This Saturday I am attending the Alberta Science Fair Exhibition and Celebration Dinner and I have been assigned the task of researching new ways to make science fairs "cool". The thing is, I already think science fairs are cool and I have a feeling the students participating in them already have a sense of belonging to and elite group. So, I need suggestions from those outside the science community. What are your thoughts on science fairs and how can they be rebranded cool?

Birthday Party

We are celebrating Brock's 25th Birthday on Friday at the Thirsty Turtle. I think it will be a lot of fun. Attending will be a really good mix of people, including some of my friends from high school, some of my friends from Lethbridge, some of my family, and, of course, a most of Brock's friends :). Now, let's just hope that no one throws up in my sink;)

Jackass 2

Brock and I went to Jackass 2 on Friday. I'll admit it was funny (in a really gross way) at most parts. However, there were a couple of times I thought I was for sure going to lose my dinner. I wouldn't recommend this movie for everyone, only those with a very strong stomach and a very broad sense of humour.

On another note, Brock and I are going to the symphony on Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to that. It's our first time going this year and tickets are on sale for $25 including GST. Click here for more details.
